Before you begin

Have the MCP server URL, its transport type, the required authentication values, and the projects that should be allowed to use the connection.

Create the connection

  1. Go to Connectors in Bud Admin.
  2. Select a catalog connector or choose Add custom gateway.
  3. Enter a clear gateway name and the MCP server URL.
  4. Select the server transport and provide the requested credentials.
  5. Choose global visibility or select the projects that may use the connection.
  6. Save the gateway.

Review discovered tools

Open the saved gateway and review its tool list. Confirm each tool’s description and input schema, then keep only tools appropriate for your organization and agent use cases.

Add tools to an agent

Open the agent configuration, select the gateway under Connectors, and attach the approved tools. Save the agent and exercise a tool call with representative input.
Removing a tool from an agent changes the agent’s capabilities immediately after its configuration is published. Validate changes in a non-production project first.

Maintain the gateway

Rotate credentials when required by the upstream provider, refresh tool discovery after upstream changes, and disable or delete connections that are no longer approved.
